Archive.org is the Internet Archive. It is not only for music, but for many many things - all in the public domain!

From their site: The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit that was founded to build an ‘Internet library,’ with the purpose of offering permanent access for researchers, historians, and scholars to historical collections that exist in digital format. Founded in 1996 and located in the Presidio of San Francisco, the Archive has been receiving data donations from Alexa Internet and others. In late 1999, the organization started to grow to include more well-rounded collections. Now the Internet Archive includes texts, audio, moving images, and software as well as archived web pages in our collections.

    Enjoy!

The InfoAnarchy.org wiki is a great place for finding information and contributing to an informational resource for the public domain.

    From the site:

"A wiki is a collection of web pages that anyone (including you!) can edit. This wiki contains information related to file sharing, copyright, the gift economy, cyber liberties, peer to peer research, information tools, and similar topics which are discussed on infoAnarchy. All content contributed is in the public domain except where otherwise noted."

Have a look - happy info hunting! :)

    From the Wikimedia Foundation Website
    :

"Imagine a world in which every single person is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That's what we're doing."

    They continue:

"The Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. is an international non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual content, and to providing the full content of these wiki-based projects to the public free of charge. Wikimedia relies on public donations to meet its goal of providing free knowledge to every person in the world.

"The Wikimedia Foundation is the parent organization of some of the largest collaboratively-edited reference projects in the world, including Wikipedia, one of the 500 most visited websites in the world. Other online projects include Wiktionary, a multilingual dictionary; Wikibooks, a collection of free content textbooks; Wikiquote, a repository of famous quotes; and Wikisource, a repository for primary source material."

Take a look at these great sites with free information for the good of the general public. The more we support them with content and visits (and $ if possible), the stronger they will grow and the more knowledge we will have to freely share online.

This site has a lot going on. There is so much info I cannot even begin to talk about it. You need to visit the wikipedia.org site to get a full dose of what is happening there. Here is a snippet from their site: "Wikipedia was started on January 15, 2001 by founders Jimmy Wales, Larry Sanger, and a few enthusiastic English-language collaborators. A bit over three years later, in March, 2004, there were 6,000 active contributors working on 600,000 articles in 50 languages. As of October 5th, 2004, there are 363008 articles in English; every day hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world make tens of thousands of edits and create thousands of new articles.

All text in Wikipedia, and most images and other content, is covered by the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). Contributions remain the property of their creators, while the GFDL license ensures the content will remain freely distributable and reproducible..."

Please visit the wikipedia about page for more info and delve into a world of free information! Remember, you can contribute information to wikipedia about your favorite topics, too, and make the info available to the entire world instantly!
