The main idea of this site is to offer information to the general public regarding these softwares and to show that there are truly viable free software alternatives to the mainstream proprietary options. We seek to inform the public and let the end users themselves decide what best fits their needs. Visit the site!

Geeklog Software - I use it for this site!

The software that I am using to power Free Reality is called Geeklog. Geeklog is awesome software. I based the design on a theme by Aeonserv, called apv_aeon.

You can demo Geeklog on demosoftware.net and find resources about it there (you can use the wiki here to add stuff that you know about, too, which is why I like to tell people about it). You can also demo it, of course, on the Geeklog demo site, where they have lots of themes you can try out, which is mighty cool, too.

And of course, if you ever need a Geeklog site, my hosting provider has great plans for Geeklog hosting: Lightservers.net. You'll probably notice my affiliate link encoded... this helps pay my hosting!

From their site: "Geeklog is a 'blog', otherwise known as a Weblog. It allows you to create your own virtual community area, complete with user administration, story posting, messaging, comments, polls, calendar, weblinks, and more! It can run on many different operating systems, and uses PHP4 and MySQL." Read more about Geeklog.

    Have a good one!

This is awesome! I am psyched about this project - they are really organized and have put out a sweet distro. I will put up screenshots here soon. For the time being, you can check them out on their website: http://www.agnula.org/.

Basically, the project has put together some of the top GPL music production software out there on one install CD. If course, given the nature of the GPL, it is naturally free. You can check out some of the packages here. You can also check out the latest news and, of course, download the Agnula software.

This project is initially funded by the European Commission, and after this period ends, it becomes a volunteer-based project.

More info from their site: "AGNULA's main task is the development of two reference distributions for the GNU/Linux operating system completely based on Free Software (i.e. under a FSF approved Free Software license) and completely devoted to professional and consumer audio applications and multimedia development. One distribution will be Debian-based (DeMuDi) and the other will be Red Hat-based (ReHMuDi).

"Here you will find info on the whats, the whys and the whos of our project."

All of you out there - this is awesome! Download, burn the iso and install it on your machine! It works on x86 and PowerPC!

    Have fun with it!

       Free Software Demos at demosoftware.net

These guys have it together: demosoftware.net

They offer and maintain a free service that allows people to test out free web-based softwares (free as in freedom) released under the GNU General Public License (GPL) both as users and administrators. In fact, the very software that this site is running on (Geeklog) is up there at this link.

Have a look - they are adding new softwares every week, and they have just put up a Documentation Wiki where anyone can contribute information and request other demos to be added, or just suggest ways to better organize the site. They also have a good list of "High Quality Links".

Have a look if it interests you! Also, you can find out about them on Wikipedia, too.
